Mundford U15 played out their final league game at home to Reffley after securing the league title some weeks ago. Mundfords performance came straight out of the Victor Meldrew book of Footballing Finesse, as despite the first ten minutes of the most measured football the game degenerated into a game of second best, and the murmours from the sideline of "I do not believe it!" grew louder as Mundford took their loyal supporters back down the rollercoaster ride they had admirably climbed high on earlier in the season. Reffley in truth ripped Mundford apart by playing direct effective positive football and knowing that when they had an opportunity to shoot on goal, they would - they did so with devastating effect. Mundfords players grew increasingly disenchanted and offered only token gestures of a comeback in return and Reffely went home happy with a 5-1 win and more importantly a humbling defeat of the Champions under their belts. Not so much a case of one foot in the grave for the outgoing manager but perhaps the last rites being read - he really couldnt believe it!! Next week home 11am kick off Suffolk Open Cup Semi-Final.
