Mundford u15 's welcomed in the New Year with a fine away win at Gorleston Bohemians in the Suffolk Open Cup to move into the semi's at home on the 10th Feb. This game was as close a game as you would would wish to see as the balance of power went from one team to the other. Mundford went ahead when Jack Hamilton hit a 30 yard free kick only to pulled back to 1-1 as a scrappy goal was conceded. Mundford then went ahead again as Danny Foster combined well with Rory Beard to score a fine lobbed goal. The second half saw Bohemains at Mundfords throat for a 20 mins in which time they scored their equaliser but couldnt press home any more pressure. Mundford then took over the game for the last 20 mins and Danny Foster turned the opposition defence inside out several times but the ball never finished in the back of the net. So the game went to penalties, and at 3-3, reserve goalkeeper Michael Jordan made a fine save to deny Bohemians ( after scoring a penalty himself ), then Aaron Burt had his penalty saved but the final twist was the Bohemians keeper missed his penalty kick to see Mundford through. Fine games were had by all of Mundfords players in this hard, physical but highly entertaining game.
